Sinatra Executive Chef Theo Schoenegger and Sinatra’s Granddaughter AJ Lambert Host Afternoon of Food and Stories to Support Spread the Word Nevada

WHAT:    Executive Chef, Theo Schoenegger, of Wynn Las Vegas’ Sinatra restaurant, along with Frank Sinatra’s granddaughter, AJ Lambert, will spend the afternoon with students of Dean Petersen Elementary School sharing stories and serving Sinatra’s favorite Italian fare.

Chef Theo, who used to cook at San Domenico for Sinatra after his New York shows, will provide the students with a pasta lunch which will be followed by AJ Lambert reading the children’s book “Frankie Liked to Sing.” After the reading the students will receive their own copy of the inspirational tale of Sinatra’s childhood.

ABOUT:    Wynn Las Vegas has partnered with Dean Petersen Elementary School to help the school continue to accomplish great things in a traditionally underprivileged area of Las Vegas. Through its partnership with Clark County School District’s “Reinventing Schools” initiative, Wynn has committed to provide support and coordinate services from other nonprofits to help the students at Petersen Elementary succeed in their education.

Spread the Word Nevada’s Nevada Reading Week Efforts to Kick Off with the Australian Bee Gees

Who:    Spread the Word Nevada leading Southern Nevada in Nevada Reading Week participation. In 1987, the Nevada Department of Education began a statewide initiative for teachers and librarians to celebrate reading through shared thematic activities. And for the past decade, the literacy nonprofit has been instrumental in securing guest readers to participate by visiting its adopted elementary schools, reading to classrooms and talk about the relevance of books and career choices.

What:    Local celebrities and members from Win-Win Entertainment, community leaders, political dignitaries and members of the community are joining Spread the Word Nevada to participate in the week-long observance of Nevada Reading Week – February 29 – March 4, 2016. This tremendous week will be kicked off by the Australian Bee Gees visiting Wynn Elementary. They will read to several classrooms, entertain the students with their musical wonders and talk about the importance of literacy and the exciting world of musicians.

Nellis Air Force Base Airmen team up with Spread the Word Nevada to Provide More than 1,900 Books to Students at Manch and Lowman Elementary Schools

Who:    Spread the Word Nevada and more than 70 Nellis AFB Airmen to bring more than 1,900 books to students at Manch and Lowman Elementary Schools.

What:    Nellis AFB started Ruck for Reading in 2014 at Craig ES with 200 books and 7 volunteers. This year, the Airmen teamed up with Spread the Word Nevada and grew the program to more than 90 volunteers and more than 2,600 books. Uniformed volunteers will be visiting each classroom at both schools to hand deliver these treasures to the students so they can continue to grow their home libraries.

Spread the Word Nevad Adopts Roundy Elementary School

37th School Adopted by the Literacy Non-Profit

Las Vegas (October 19, 2015) – Spread the Word Nevada (STWN), the largest children’s literacy non-profit in the state, will adopt its 37th school – Roundy ES – in Las Vegas on October 21, 2015. This adoption is made possible by the generous sponsorship from Wynn Resorts.

Who:    Spread the Word Nevada to bring books and literacy services to Roundy Elementary School students.
The school is being sponsored by STWN’s community partner, Wynn Resorts.

What:    Spread the Word Nevada will hold an adoption kick-off ceremony for its 37th school. Students will receive an initial distribution of one book bag and five books to start their home libraries. From there on, students will continue to receive monthly book distributions in addition to various literacy services including the STWN Book & Buddies mentoring program and Breakfast with Books, a family literacy service.

Cashman Equipment Grants $20,000 to Spread the Word Nevada

Grant to benefit sponsorphip for John S. Park Elementary School

Las Vegas – Henderson, NV (October 6, 2015) – Spread the Word Nevada (STWN), the largest children’s literacy non-profit in the state, received a generous donation from Cashman Equipment, the Caterpillar dealership serving Nevada since 1931. Their support continues the expansion of literacy services and book distributioins to Joh S. Park Elementary in Las Vegas. The sponsorship celebration will be held on October 8, 2015

Who:    Spread the Word Nevada to continue bringing books and literacy services to John S. Park Elementary School.

What:    A sponsorship celebration during the first Breakfast with Books program of the 2015-2016 school year, where each attendee – students, families, and guardians – will have the opportunity to select their own book to take home.
