support Spread
the Word Nevada.
Back-to-School
Book Drive Extravaganza
Aug. 21-22
Joe's
Crab Shack and Zaba's Mexican Grill invite the Las Vegas community
to the Back-to-School Book Drive Extravaganza in honor of
Spread
the Word Nevada.
This two-day event takes place Aug. 21-22. All the collected
books will go to Spread
the Word Nevada
and 100% of donated funds will go directly toward purchasing
books for children in southern Nevada.
Saturday,
Aug. 21, 4pm-10pm
Joe's
Crab Shack and Zaba's Mexican Grill will co-host a "happy
hour" social event in the courtyard of the Grand Canyon
Flamingo Centre (I-215 & West Flamingo). This event will
include live music from recording artists Ron Keel, Paul Shortino
and Jay Bolan, food specials from both restaurants, with drinks
provided by Budweiser ($2) and Corona ($2.50), a live auction
emceed by TV personality Ron Futrell, and a live radio remote
with Mix 94.1. More than $10,000 worth of auction items will
be up for grabs. Auction proceeds will directly benefit Spread
the Word Nevada
and a percentage of total food sales during the event will
also be donated.
Sunday,
Aug. 22, 11am-7pm
This
co-hosted, kid-focused day is filled with fun events including
an arts and crafts area for kids, performances by local children's
groups, professional stunt BMX and skateboarding demos by
Ricardo Laguna, Nick Happel, Mark Rubio, Troy Adam and Dave
DeLuna, face painting, balloon artists, raffles, and food
and drink specials from both restaurants, with drinks provided
by Budweiser ($2) and Corona ($2.50). Raffle ticket proceeds
will directly benefit Spread
the Word Nevada
and a percentage of total food sales during the event will
be donated.
A
co-hosted, in-store book drive by all three area Joe's Crab
Shack restaurants and five local Zaba's Mexican Grill restaurants
began August 6. Each restaurant will have collection sites
until August 22 and are offering food special incentives for
every customer that donates a new or gently-used children's
book (grades k-6).
Storybook
Gala
Sep. 11
Join
us for the 8th Annual Spread
the Word Nevada
Storybook Gala on the 11th of September, 2010. All of the
event proceeds benefit at-risk children served by Spread
the Word Nevada's
programs.
The
theme for this year's gala is "Unlock the World of Literacy,"
and NV Energy will be honored for its contributions to our
