Grants $25,000 to Spread the Word Nevada

Funds to benefit the organization’s children’s literacy programs

Las Vegas – Henderson, NV (January 31, 2019) – Spread the Word Nevada (STWN) has been selected by Lee, Langlois, and Associates Wealth Advisors, Ameriprise Financial Services as the recipient of a $25,000 grant to adopt William Ferron Elementary School for the 2018/19 school year.

Funds support two key literacy programs aimed to instill a lifelong appreciate for books. Kids to Kids puts books into the hands of children so they may build home libraries. Five new and gently used books are selected at this kick-off celebration, and then, once a month, one additional book is selected to take home. Breakfast with Books increases the awareness and importance of reading as a family activity. Each program consists of a light snack, story time, raffle, and most importantly the opportunity for the whole family to choose a book to take home.

“Providing these students and their families with our programs will surely set them up to a big and bright future,” says Lisa Habighorst, Executive Director of Spread the Word Nevada. “Having the support of generous community partners like Lee, Langlois, and Associates is a another big step towards advancing childhood literacy in Nevada.”

“Books and literacy give children joy, imagination, and confidence that provide lifelong advantages,” says Reneé Langlois, Associate Vice President at Lee, Langlois, and Associates. “We are honored to partner with such a noble organization in Spread the Word Nevada and are excited to support Ferron Elementary.”
