"Pennies
for Pages One-Hour Read-a-Thon" Benefits Kids to Kids
and Nevada's At-Risk Children
May
12, 2006 - Kids to Kids
literacy project is making an impact in the lives of Nevada's
at-risk children (preschool through 5th grade).
These
students with academic, economic, and language challenges
are discovering the joy attributed to books, reading and school
success. For many of these youngsters, reading one page of
a book is a sign of success, a reason to be proud.
The
"Pennies for Pages One-Hour Read-a-Thon" will make
reading a priority in thousands of homes throughout the Las
Vegas valley. This year's Read-a-Thon is part of Kids
to Kids' 5th birthday
festivities and is being celebrated throughout Southern
Nevada in conjunction with the grand opening of Focus Property
Group's new Providence master planned community. The event
will also include a valley-wide "radio-a-thon" on
Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,
with KSNE 106.5, KWNR 95.5, and KKJJ 100.5 radio stations
throughout the weekend.
Kendall
Tenney and Maria Silva, anchors with KVBC News 3 will highlight
the children's reading progress with news coverage throughout
the preceding week and during the weekend.

Mark
your calendars for this event, and bring your families out
to celebrate literacy, children, and philanthropy with us.
There
will be wonderful food provided at no charge, storytellers,
crafts, cheerleaders, entertainment, authors and more.
As
a part of our birthday celebration, Kids
to Kids hopes you'll support literacy one page
at a time, one penny at a time. Your pledges will make a difference
to the 11,000 children and families currently served by Kids
to Kids each month and will enable the program
to reach out to additional youngsters in need.
