Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids Expands to 14th School

Academy of Excellence Charter School will become the fourteenth
southern Nevada school to join the Kids
to Kids reading program on Tuesday, May 22, 2007.
Preschool
through fifth grade students will participate in a kick-off
ceremony in the school's multi-purpose room at 10:00 a.m.
with a book distribution to follow.

Henderson, Principal of 100 Academy of Excellence Principal

believes in our mission to help parents educate their children.
The children at 100 Academy of Excellence will truly feel
the impact working with Kids to Kids
to enrich the lives and enhance the academic futures of our
students and their families through this program. We are blessed
to have Kids to Kids as
our partner as we strive to achieve early childhood literacy."
In
the initial phase of the program, each student is given a
canvas tote bag containing five books of their choice. Each
month, a new book is added to each child's personal library,
and students can trade books with other children in the program.

Habighorst, Executive Director of Spread
the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids, said, "We are
very excited to adopt 100 Academy of Excellence as our fourteenth
school in the Las Vegas Valley. They are a dynamic staff of
educators who are passionate about education and the key role
education plays in the future academic and life-long success
of the at-risk children they serve."
100
Academy of Excellence is the first Imagine Schools location
in Nevada inspired by the 100 Black Men of Las Vegas. The
100 Black Men of Las Vegas is a group dedicated to enhancing
educational and economic opportunities for African-Americans,
and to improving the quality of life within the community.
They have been mentoring children in schools throughout the
valley for years.
Imagine
Schools is a national organization with charter schools in
13 states. There are 70 locations on 35 campuses across the
country, and the group currently serves about 20,000 children.
