Opportunity Overview:
Managing existing revenue sources within the Social Enterprise Department. All avenues of social enterprise are mission-based, and earned revenue goes directly back to the main mission of serving children and families through literacy programs.

Position Overview:
The Social Enterprise Manager is an entrepreneurial, sales and goal oriented, responsible, and flexible individual who enjoys working with corporate entities and team staff. Working with internal Development, Marketing and Program staff, this person will continue to help refine, develop and grow a two-year old social enterprise model that creates an internal stream of revenue to benefit the children, served through the programs at Spread the Word Nevada. This will be done through an established team building event; online bookstore, bulk book sales, fingerprint enterprise and holiday gift giving. Growth will be continued through marketing, identifying potential clients, developing and securing proposals, and overseeing all streams of revenue. This person must be highly motivated, experienced in outside sales and cold calls, be able to multitask, have good communication skills both verbal and written, have excellent organizational skills, strong skillset in determining ROI, recording and evaluating cost effectiveness, and be able to establish priorities. The candidate must be able to work independently with little daily supervision. This position reports directly to the Director of Development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure every customer has a unique, positive experience.
  • Supervise and manage one direct report position.
  • Track and record all monthly social enterprise data.
  • Oversee volunteers working within in the Social Enterprise department.
  • Research best practices for social enterprise opportunities.
  • Contribute to content development for social media, STWN website and promotional materials about STWN social enterprises.
  • Produce monthly financial report.
  • Contribute to various duties within the Development Department for special events.


  • Minimum of three years’ experience in marketing, business, community relations, or equivalent position
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with community and develop relationships with local businesses and organizations
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience working with large groups of volunteers or in a team building environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • High school degree required; college degree preferred
  • Use of reliable personal vehicle, valid auto insurance and valid driver’s license
  • Comfortable driving a passenger van
