  • No encyclopedias, coloring books or books with a library’s Dewey Decimal tags on them

Community Book Drives

3 Steps For A Successful Book Drive

Step 1 – Set Dates & Goals: Let Spread the Word Nevada know you’re interested in hosting a book drive by emailing bookdrive@stwn.org. Select the beginning and end for your drive (most drives are 2-4 weeks long) and set a goal for number of books collected to motivate and inspire people to donate.

Step 2 – Promote Your Drive: Share with friends, post on social media, and use flyers (STWN can provide a logo and talking points).

Step 3 – Pack & Drop Off: At the end of your book drive, place the books in sturdy boxes and drop them off at our office. If you’ve collected a large number of books in Clark County, please call us at 702-564-7809 to arrange a pickup. If your book drive is in Washoe County or Elko County, call 775-507-7007 for scheduling.

Virtual Book Drive

Hosting a Virtual Book Drive is a simple and effective way to support Spread the Word Nevada. The funds raised are used to purchase new books for children in need. A Virtual Book Drive may be added to a traditional book drive to broaden your impact.

How it works:
Spread the Word Nevada creates a special donation webpage that enables groups to “collect books” online. The exclusive webpage is shared by the group hosting the event. Every $2 donation made allows Spread the Word Nevada to purchase a like-new book for a child to cherish.
