Mentor Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • A completed online application  
  • Attend a mentor orientation session (1.5 hours) 
  • Pass a criminal background check (Spread the Word Nevada covers the cost)  
  • Apply through CCSD for approval to serve as a volunteer within the school
  • Volunteer for 1 hour per week on a designated day/time  
  • Transportation to and from the assigned school location

Available Time

Be Realistic – Do you have the time to build this relationship?

Dependability

Physically and Emotionally – Can you regularly show up and maintain interest over a period of time?

Developmental Attitude

Is your goal to help a “buddy” grow in both skills and confidence and not to “fix” the child’s problems?
