Kids to Kids
Kids to Kids is the flagship program of Spread the Word Nevada, offering every child in our partner schools the chance to choose a book of their own to keep each month. By selecting books that speak to their interests, children become excited and curious readers, eager to explore new worlds and ideas. This simple act of choice fosters independence, sparks imagination, and builds confidence. It encourages a genuine love for reading and helps children form a lifelong habit of discovery and learning.

How does a Kids to Kids distribution work?
Once a month, Spread the Word Nevada delivers gently used books donated by the community to each of our partner schools. The number of books delivered could be as high as 45,000 per month, depending on the size of the student body. Each school then hosts a distribution where all the donated books, arranged by grade level, are made available for the students to browse through. Students then pick one book that they want to keep. At the end of the day, each student in the school will have a new “forever book” to add to their home library.
For every new, eligible school that we take under our wing, Spread the Word Nevada will host an “adoption” event. At this event, each student in the school will receive two brand new, age-appropriate books and will get to select three more gently used books donated by the community to take home and add to their home library.
