Grant to benefit the organization’s Books on the Move Project

Las Vegas – Henderson, NV (April 28, 2015) – Spread the Word Nevada (STWN) has been selected by the John Krakauer Charitable Trust as the recipient of a $40,000 grant. The grant donation will support program growth and outreach that results in solutions that are designed to optimize, manage and deliver STWN’s literacy services efficiently. It will also provide leadership training to STWN staff members.

“We applaud the work of Spread the Word Nevada and their literacy program that provides books and reading mentors to at-risk, low-income children in Southern Nevada,” said Stacey Wedding, Founder of Professionals in Philanthropy and Chief Advisor to the John Krakauer Charitable Trust. “Mr. Krakauer was a huge fan of Spread the Word Nevada during his lifetime and would be delighted to know his legacy is continuing through a sizeable gift that will impact so many.”

Since STWN’s inception in 2001, 34 schools have been adopted and more than 389,000 youth have been served throughout Southern Nevada.

“This generous grant will allow us to continue providing much needed books and literacy services to our low-income children, which is a goal that could not come to fruition without the financial support from amazingly generous partners like John Krakauer Charitable Trust.” said Lisa Habighorst, STWN Executive Director.
