Nevada’s Leading Children’s Literacy Nonprofit is Expanding its Mission to Washoe County
Nonprofit to adopt two elementary schools on November 8, 2018

Washoe County, NV (October 25 , 2018) – Spread the Word Nevada (STWN), the leading children’s literacy nonprofit serving Southern Nevada since 2001 is expanding its Mission to Washoe County.

STWN will roll out its flagship programs, Kids to Kids and Breakfast with Books with its first two school adoptions on November 8, 2018. Kids to Kids is a monthly distribution of new and gently used books for students to develop their very own “keep at home” library of books to learn from, share with their families and instill a deep appreciation of reading. Breakfast with Books is STWN’s monthly family literacy program to help instill the importance of reading together as a family activity. On adoption day, students will receive an initial distribution of one book bag and five books to start their home libraries. Every month from there on, students will continue to receive book distributions.

To commemorate the market launch, STWN plans to adopt two elementary schools on November 8th:
Greenbrae ES located at 1840 4th St, Sparks, NV 89431 and Cannan ES located at 2450 Cannan Street, Reno, NV 89512.

“Spread the Word Nevada’s literacy programs are an avenue to reach at-risk children and their families and open up boundless possibilities for their future through the gift of reading,” said Lisa Habighorst, STWN Executive Director. “Expanding our Mission to Northern Nevada has been a dream of ours for years, and now we are finally making it a reality! We have a lot of work ahead of us and are eager to recruit and engage volunteers, generate book drives, grow and serve the Northern Nevada community!”
